Weekend Fun lasts into Monday

working backyards from yesterday (monday):

Monday:
Took a day off from work and and cycled to Newport Beach pier, where I met up w/ gina and the boys. We had a great day at the beach swimming, burying those who wanted to be buried, getting sand into every nook and cranny, playing trucks, eating a picnic lunch, the whole nine yards. Coming home had dinner at In and Out, always a welcome treat but especially so after the beach. Regarding the cycling -- I tried a route Ive been itching to try -- from my driveway over to chino hills state park, then right down the middle of chino hills state park on dirt fireroads to the paved santa ana river hike/bike trail, which takes you all the way to the sand. Its a fifty mile route, the last forty of which are no cars, no traffic lights, no stopping. very satisfactory route.

Sunday: a much enjoyed day of rest. Drew and Seth under the weather, took the day off.

Saturday: CVCC bbq. fun and games w/ friends, enjoyed by all.

Friday: a friday night backyard campout w/ me and the oldest three boys over at a friends house. We watched a movie (Ratatuoille sp?) on a sheet in the yard. The boys rode scooters around the cul de sac w/ their friends. Bbq'ed burgers and dogs.

Speed Choo Choo

Drew and I have a new hobby, "Speed Choo Choo." We use whatever we can find to get the little train track as high as possible, and run a track descent down to the floor. Last night the little trains were welcomed at the end of the speed track by the open arms of Optimus Prime, transformer extraordinaire, where they met their end.

Couple nights ago seth and chan got on their bikes, chase on his big wheel, and drew in my bike seat and we rolled over to decker park for basketball. seth made a basket!

This morning when I was leaving for work the little guys (drew/chase) lined up and gave me big hugs and kisses, which was super cool. Drew is starting to talk a lot more.

Science Camp Week

Seth and Channing are in "science camp" this week. They are studying space and astronauts. Seth was so excited yesterday, he ran down the stairs in the morning in an astronaut costume. gotta love the enthusiasm.

after a spectacular week in seattle for cousin steve's wedding we came home and spent saturday at raging waters. we have been working diligently on the paper space needle models the boys picked up in washington.

chase, drew, and me spent sun afternoon in the pool, playing soccer, and flying this metal airplane contraption we have in our backyard. it was super fun having some time w/ just those two, its like a whole new set of sons.

slime science

did an interesting little "slime science" kit w/ seth channing and chase tonight. seth explained to me what a polymer is, and what guar gum is good for. we discovered nature's freakiest substance, corn starch + water. the boys have discovered my calvin and hobbes collection and burst into laughter. seth drew something like a ten-panel comic strip today. kid's got a good sense of humor. channing wanted to take a "one night break" from having me read him Silver Chair and "have a chit chat instead." chase and drew and me played sit wrestle for a spell, and we read a stack of books. i had to stop halfway through one to go yell at chan about whatever, forgot about the book but chase tracked me down and said, "hey its not done yet" and handed me the book. that made me laugh. drew bounced up and down when he saw me, doing his one legged dance of enthusiasm. levi smiled huge little toothless smiles when id come tickle him and make faces. cute little guy!!! well this is turned out to be quite the diary tome.

all that and gina is packing the boys up for the upcoming cousin-steve-wedding-in-seattle trip. all right cousin steve! the boys have their backpacks stuffed w/ blankets and toys, i believe they are ready!

hooky day at raging waters

is that how you spell hooky? anyways. My sister, b-i-l (brother-in-law) and adorable niece sophie are all visiting and so we all went to Raging Waters together today. Even grampa showed up which was awesome. So the various generations were all represented and and excellent time was had by all. How come the water is freezing in some places and warmer in others. I probably do not want to know. Seth went down some pretty gnarly slides and had fun doing it. Chase went down Bermuda Triangle. I highly recommend the appropriately named Speed Slide. I almost convinced my sister to try Bermuda Triangle but her looming hair appointment and freshly applied makeup (so she claimed) reversed the plan. Funny, I havent heard that one since junior high. seth and channing took sonke and me down thunder rapids. good times in san dimas.

Whew! Too much fun for one weekend. Today the oldest 3 start VBS. Finally, chase is old enough to do something w/ the older two. props for him! Poor guy's too short at Raging Waters.

Last weekend (or was it the wkned before) we went CAMPING with all 5 little guys in the untamed wilds of Yucaipa regional park w/ the families from our homeschool group. It was a grrrrreat time! we took all 5 to see Wall.E (hard movie to spell), and smuggled in popcorn and some delicous Australian licorice. Seriously, its the best licorice in the world. The 4th of July we chilled over at the home of some fun friends and other families and stayed way too late. I think thats about it. We're up to date.
